Commitment

Madisons Interiors is committed to reducing its carbon emissions and environmental impact in line with UK net‑zero objectives. Our approach focuses on practical, measurable actions within our control and continuous improvement over time.

We aim to achieve Net Zero operational emissions by 2045.
Organisational boundary and emission sources

As a specialist drylining contractor, we do not manufacture products and do not operate a permanent office. Our main sources of emissions are:

  • Scope 1:

    • Company-owned vehicles (fuel and electricity use)

  • Scope 2:

    • Negligible, as administrative work is carried out remotely

  • Scope 3:

    • Business mileage

    • Materials used on projects

    • Waste arising from installation works (removed by principal contractor or client)

    • Subcontractor and supplier travel

Baseline

Baseline year: 2026

This year represents the first year in which formal controls and data collection are being introduced, including fuel usage, vehicle records, business mileage, and material ordering practices.

As data quality improves, baseline figures will be refined and used to monitor year‑on‑year progress.

Carbon reduction measures

Transport

  • Transition company vehicles to electric models as vehicles reach end of life

  • Monitor fuel and electricity usage annually

  • Reduce unnecessary journeys through job planning and remote coordination

  • Encourage efficient driving practices

Business mileage

  • Business mileage will be recorded from the 2026 baseline

  • The company commits to continuous improvement rather than fixed percentage reductions, recognising that site-based construction work limits flexibility

Materials and waste

  • Improve material take‑offs and ordering accuracy to minimise over‑ordering

  • Target material wastage of:

    • <5% by 2030

    • <3% by 2045

  • While waste removal and recycling are typically managed by the principal contractor, we will:

    • Install materials efficiently to minimise offcuts

    • Co‑operate with site waste management procedures

    • Use manufacturers’ guidance to reduce damage and rework

Subcontractors and suppliers

  • Preference given to local subcontract labour where reasonable

  • Environmental awareness considered during supplier and subcontractor selection where practicable

Office and administration

  • No permanent office space maintained unless necessary

  • Continue remote-first administration to reduce commuting emissions

  • Paperless systems used for drawings, RAMS, timesheets, and invoicing wherever possible

Monitoring and review

Responsibility for implementing this Carbon Reduction Plan rests with senior management.

  • Performance will be reviewed annually

  • Targets will be updated as data quality improves and as the company grows

  • This plan will be reviewed and updated at least every two years

Carbon Offsetting

We prioritise reducing emissions at source but recognise that it is likely that there will be residual emissions that cannot yet be eliminated.

After 2030 and first making progress in source reduction of emissions we will review offsetting residual carbon through verified UK-based environmental projects.

Carbon Literacy

We will implement a carbon literacy programme using resources such as the Supply Chain Sustainability School to educate our senior leadership who have control over the carbon reduction measures we will put in place.
